MainPort has delivered 13 iPads to the Museum of Women in Echt. The second-hand tablets, from the healthcare sector, will be given a second life in the exhibition ‘Criminal Women? ‘. The iPads come from a healthcare organisation, which wrote off the tablets after several years of use. Several videos are shown on the iPads, which museum visitors can play themselves. For instance, five iPads show interviews with experts from the Public Prosecutor’s Office and Victim Support, among others. Another five iPads show an actor, who takes on the role of a lawyer, making various pleas about the women at the centre of the exhibition. Background music is played on the remaining iPads. The Museum of Women welcomes the collaboration with MainPort. The museum can take over the iPads at a very soft price. ‘If we would have had to just buy the iPads, it would have been unaffordable,’ said a museum spokesperson. Bas Zelissen, CFO of MainPort, is happy that the iPads are getting a second life. ‘We think sustainability is very important as an IT organisation,’ he said. The Museum of Women in Echt is the only museum in the Netherlands entirely dedicated to the lives of women. Through various exhibitions, the museum tells the stories of women through time. Contemporary themes are linked to age-old traditions, local culture and current social issues. The museum offers a reflection on the past with a view to the future.
